Event Description:
The U.M. Army will be coming to Cameron during the week of July 22-26!
The U.M Army (United Methodist Action Reach-out Mission by Youth) is a nonprofit organization that sponsors youth mission trips. Since 1979, they have provided home repair services for homeowners that are physically and financially unable to make needed repairs to their homes!
Their work consists of new construction of wheelchair ramps, steps, porches, handrails, and repair and maintenance to windows, screen doors, doors, floor boards, exterior wood, painting, yard clean up, and house clean up!
They have decided to leave it to the professionals when it comes to plumbing and electricacl, major roof repair, new home construction, appliace repair, 3rd story painting, or work on rental properties, so these services are not available.
All work done by the U.M. Army is FREE OF CHARGE! They supply all labor and materials! Funding comes from the volunteers and donations.
What can you do to help? If you would like them to use any paint or construction materials, then they will be happy to, but it is not an obligation. One of the nicest things you can do for these young people is to give them a smile, get to know them, and let them know how much you appreciate what they are doing! There is no need to provide any snacks or meals, they provide their own food and water.
