Old Town Cameron- A 1940’s miniature of the town and model railroad was created by Cameron resident John Johnson, who fell in love with his hometown at an early age.
Volunteers are now renovating and maintaining Old Town Cameron. Rail lines going back on schedule, and 1940's Cameron is beginning to live again.
The value and appreciation of John's work can now be truly realized. After John and his wife gifted Old Town Cameron to the County, it had a hard time finding a permanent home. Now through the work of the Milam County Historical Museum, lead by curator Charles King, the Museum's Board, county's elected officials and volunteers, Old Town Cameron now lives at the old JC Penny Building where it can teach history and provide a living glimpse back into time.
The building will also house other train exhibits and serve as home for the Milam County Model Train Club.
