Event Description:
The Cameron ISD Board of Trustees and the school administration will be holding a public hearing about becoming a district of innovation.
The District of Innovation concept, passed by the 84th Legislative Session in House Bill 1842, gives traditional independent school districts most of the flexibilities available to Texas' open-enrollment charter schools.
Many districts in the state have already taken advantage of this bill and their districts are able to regain some local control as well as make policies and procedures that best fit their community needs. Cameron ISD has started the process and the next step in that process is to hold a public hearing.
